Located in northern Tianjin's Ninghe district, Qilihai-or "Seven Mile Sea" in Chinese-is one of the world's oldest existing coastlines, but in the last three years, it has undergone a major face-lift.
In recent years, Tianjin has invested nearly 9 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) to restore a 230-sq-km wetland area in the Qilihai section of Ninghe district. The wetland area is located on one of three existing ancient coastal shores.
On April 9, representatives of 58 companies joined with authorities of Ninghe district in Tianjin to explore and nail down development opportunities in the area.
A new picture-worthy venue, the Tianjin Green Ecological Barrier, has already become a popular destination for tourists in North China.
