A press conference on the Qilihai half-marathon is held in Ninghe district, Tianjin.
A press conference on the Ninghe Qilihai Half-Marathon was held at the headquarters of the Bank of Tianjin on Friday.
Officials introduced various aspects of the event at the press conference, including its organizing principles, brand highlights, preparations, unique features, and sponsorship opportunities.
The half-marathon and associated health run, an A1 certified event by the Chinese Athletics Association that will seek to attract up to 15,000 people, is scheduled to take place on April 20.
The half-marathon (21.0975 kilometers) is open to 12,000 participants, while the health run (approximately 5 kilometers) is open to 3,000 participants.
In October, Ninghe district was honored with the title of "Biodiversity Charming City" by the United Nations, being selected to join the "Cities with Nature" platform. The theme of this half-marathon will embody Ninghe district's active exploration of the "ecological+" development path.
The race course for this event will connect iconic landscapes in the district such as Qilihai Wetland and Yongding New River. Throughout the course, there will be multiple performances of traditional folk arts like Kongzhu (a traditional Chinese yo-yo) and waist drum dancing. This setup aims to provide runners with an immersive experience of eco-friendly running while allowing them to fully experience the unique cultural heritage of Ninghe.
Registeration for the event lasts until 17:00 on March 9. Participants can register through the "Shu Zi Xin Dong" app or the "Ninghe Qilihai Marathon" WeChat official account, with a lottery system in place if the number of applicants exceeds the specified limit for each group.
