The Yuelong Hongyao sweet potato cultivated in Yuelong town, Tianjin's Ninghe district, received the "Most Popular Product Award" at the 21st China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF) recently held in Guangdong province.
Yuelong brought two agricultural products -- Yuelong Hongyao sweet potato and Yuechuan spicy sauce – to the 21st CATF. Those two products received extensive attention and unanimous praise from the experts and customers nationwide.
Yuelong, based on its positioning as the "Hometown of Chinese Hongyao sweet potato", has continued this year to promote the development of the sweet potato industry. It has bred 25 million high-quality, disease-free Hongyao sweet potato seedlings. The town's planting area for the Hongyao sweet potato has reached 18,000 mu, becoming the nation's largest high-quality production area for the Hongyao sweet potato.
Since developing the Hongyao sweet potato industry, Yuelong has boosted the collective income of 13 villages by 3 million yuan ($412,458).
This year, Yuelong's Hongyao sweet potato has yielded remarkable results, being included in the top 10 key cultivated brands in Tianjin. The sweet potato has also been selected as one of the "Tianjin Boutique Agricultural Products" souvenirs, attracting widespread attention from various media outlets.
The Yuelong Hongyao sweet potato has become the local treasure leading to prosperity and happiness.
