With the arrival of the 44th World Food Day on October 16, the harvest of 270,000 mu of corn in Tianjin's Ninghe district began.

In recent years, resource rich Ninghe district has optimized its agricultural practices by utilizing high-quality seeds, techniques and farmland models. It has comprehensively implemented various agricultural policies to fine-tune the efficiency and level of its food production, ensuring stable yields and increased income.

Using various types of agricultural machinery, local farmers have ensured a successful harvest and storage of the grain.

"I have planted 2,400 mu of corn, with a yield of around 700 kilograms per mu. It will take a week to finish harvesting the corn. After the corn harvest, we are going to prepare to plant autumn wheat," said Zhang Chunhai, a farmer in the village of Dashawo, Miaozhuang, Ninghe district.

The entire process of planting and harvesting corn has been fully mechanized, Zhang said, which not only makes it convenient and labor-saving for farmers during the autumn harvest but also lays a good foundation for planting autumn wheat.

This year, the use of yield-increasing technologies in Ninghe district has increased the overall corn harvest by 10 percent compared with last year.
