In the golden autumn, the farming land of Ninghe is preparing for the big yield. As Tianjin’s largest grain-producing area and the main Xiaozhan rice-producing area, 370,000 mu of rice in Ninghe are harvest-ready.
"My family has planted more than 2,000 mu of rice, and the harvest has increased by nearly 10% compared to last year. As soon as harvesting started in the morning, purchase orders came in. Ninghe rice is so popular," said Su Wenguang, local farmer in Ninghe district.
"This year, our district has actively carried out actions to increase the yield of Tianjin's main grain and oil crops. Through centralized seedling cultivation, mechanization of the entire rice process, advanced tillering control, and unified pest and disease prevention and control technology, we have provided scientific guarantees for increasing rice production and income," said Dong Zaicheng, director of the local agricultural center.

In recent years, based on planting high-quality and high-yielding varieties, using green and efficient technology as the starting point, and disaster prevention and reduction technology as the guarantee, Ninghe district has fully explored the potential of rice production, continuously improved the level of rice yield per unit area, and effectively enhanced the security of food supply.
According to statistics, the rice planting area in Ninghe district this year is 370,000 mu, and the average yield per mu is expected to be about 700 kilograms, higher than in previous years. The harvest is expected to be completed before the end of October.
