At the press conference, Bai Fengxiang, secretary of the CPC Ninghe District Committee, highlighted Ninghe’s superior location, abundant resources, and unique local culture.
Bai said that Ninghe is a well-known "sports hometown" and "cradle for champions". Ninghe district will take the opportunity of hosting a series of national competition projects to further explore and develop the local tourism resources, extend the industrial chain of "sports+tourism" and "sports+consumption", and continuously amplify the comprehensive effect of the event.
The Qilihai Half-marathon competition is the first national marathon event to be conducted in Ninghe. It will be launched on Sept 24th at the Qilihai Wetland in Ninghe district, which is an important component of Tianjin Ancient Coast and Wetland National Nature Reserve, and one of the only three remaining wetlands in the world with ancient coastal characteristics.
This competition is expecting a total of 5,000 people to participate in the event. Two competition programs including half-marathon of 21.1 kilometers and mini-marathon of about 5 kilometers will be set up.
The 2023 Tianjin’s Ninghe Qilihai Half-marathon competition marks the new chapter in revitalizing the industries and promoting sports development in Ninghe. To build this event into a high-quality marathon race, Ninghe will introduce new tourism routes and unique tourism products for the participants and the audience.
