The Ninghe Disabled Persons' Federation has taken actions to promote the construction of the social security and service systems for people with disabilities and for over 14,600 licensed people who are impaired in the region.
The rehabilitation platform for people with disabilities is being expanded. To help them improve their quality of life and get them involved in society, the federation has built an information network which records their physical conditions and their needs.
The network can provide them with medical services from various channels. Additionally, the federation has improved the service system to provide free medicine and health services for people with mental illness. A special fund of more than 3.3 million yuan (about $500,000), has been allocated and 618 psychiatric patients were given free medication assistance.
In addition to providing vocational skills and practical technical training, the federation has also encouraged them to be self-employed.
The federation has raised more than 5 million yuan to pay endowment insurance for eligible people, provided 2 million yuan of financial aid to 923 students with disabilities, and implemented more than 1.4 million yuan of subsidy funds for 531 students receiving higher education.
To meet the needs of the spiritual life of the disabled, the federation has further enriched recreational and sports activities for them. Various activities have been held to get people to participate productively in society and enrich their lives.
