The industrial tourism zone, built by Tianjin Tiangang United Special Steel Corporation, is Tianjin's first national 3A-level scenic spot and a national educational base for popular science.
The industrial tourism zone covers an area of 3,200 mu (about 213.3 hectares). It is located in the economic and technological development zone of Ninghe district in Tianjin and enjoys an advantageous location. To its south is Tianjin Port and it is connected with the S60 Binhai New Area-Baoding Expressway and the S2 Tianjin-Ningjin Expressway.
Themed on steel production, the industrial tourism zone has created diversified functional venues for visitors to learn more about specific procedures in the making of steel products, set up leisure and entertainment parks in connection with industrial production, and launched multiple exhibition centers on corporate culture, handicrafts, woodcuts and other local intangible heritages to better demonstrate steel-themed culture and the unique culture of Tianjin.
With regard to environmental protection, the industrial tourism zone has built a photovoltaic power station, a sewage disposal plant, and an animal & plant park and a fishpond. There are several scientific and technological innovation projects, including an intelligent center for big data, a laser-coding robotic center, a high-tech laboratory, Nankai University's sintering laboratory, and nine creative studios. The zone is emerging as a demonstration area for industrial tourism incorporated with steel production, smart manufacturing, exhibitions of steel culture, popular science on environmental protection, and interactive engagement.
