In recent years, Ninghe district has prioritized ecological and green development hand in hand with economic and social development to ensure it has blue skies, clear water and green lands.
Regarding the protection of its Qilihai Wetland Natural Reserve, an important part of the ancient coastal shores, a series of projects have been implemented to regulate and store water, support reed re-wilding and protect birds.
To date, great care of 124,000 acres of reeds and land and water surfaces has led to significant improvement.
Wetland areas in the natural reserve have increased by 50 percent.
As a result of the area's achievement in the environment, the number of bird species in Qilihai has increased from 182 ten years ago to today's 258, and the number of migrant birds staying each year has increased from 200,000 to nearly 500,000.
Regarding living conditions in its rural areas, Ninghe has taken steps to improve poultry manure treatment and has built village-level domestic sewage treatment facilities.
The district has also made efforts to reduce carbon emissions and developed a carbon-neutral action plan.
